Reasons why Phodo did not win the TNM Golden Boot

In his debut season with Silver Strikers Maxwell Gasten Phodo started the League with a superb performance having scored 10 goals in first round.

Many believed that Phodo would emerge victorious in the Super League Golden Boot Award contest.

But this is contrary to what has happened as Nyasa Big Bullets superstar Hassan Kajoke surpassed goals scored by Phodo to scoop the award last minute.

Kajoke has won the Golden Boot Award with 15 goals seconded by Phodo who has 13 goals.

Sports Analyst Kelvin Moyo believes Phodo has failed to win the Award due to a slump in form of Silver Strikers at some point in the Super League.

Moyo said the development greatly impacted on Phodo's form in the top-flight league.

This made the Bankers hit-man to have pressure whenever playing games which resulted to him failing to score in 12 games in the second round, said Moyo.

Hassan Kajoke wins 2020/21 TNM Super League Golden Boot

The Nyasa Big Bullets forward bagged his 15th goal of the season on Saturday after scoring a brace in their incredible comeback over Karonga.

Bullets won the match 3-2, with goals from Kajoke (brace) and Lanjesi Nkhoma while Josaya Duwa and Mphatso Kamanga scored for Karonga United.

Kajoke who was neck and neck with Silver Strikers star, Maxwell Gasten Phodo at 13 goals needed a goal to be the solo winner of the golden boot.

During the Karonga United game, Kajoke scored his first goal at 53 minutes before scoring from the spot at 90+1 minutes after Lanjesi Nkhoma was fouled in the penalty box.

The development will see Kajoke receiving the 2020/21 TNM Super League Golden Boot Award.

Commenting on the development Sports Analyst Kelvin Moyo applauded Kajoke's spirit of working hard throughout the season despite encountering many hiccups.

But Moyo said a lot needs to be done for the country's strikers to be scoring more goals.

Moyo gave an example of Phodo who failed to score for the Bankers in 10 consecutive Super League games.
