CHITIPA BEAT EKHAYA TO SECURE FIFTH WIN

Chitipa United have secured back to back wins for the first time this season after beating Ekhaya FC 1-0 at the Chitipa Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Chancy Kaonga netted a 56th minute goal to seal the win as Basongo claimed their fifth win of the season to move into the top 8 of the FDH Premiership.

The team have so far won four of their 6 home matches in the league to accumulate 13 points out of possible 18 at home.

Head coach for the team Kondwa Ikwanga thanked his boys for their brilliant performance in the game.

"It is the thing which we have been practicing during training and today it has worked for us, it was a very tough game but I'm happy to have won today because the race is so tight in the league," said Ikwanga.

He also said that his team will continue utilizing home ground advantage in the league saying picking points away from home is so difficult in the league.

OSAGIE STARS CHITIPA CLAIM FIRST AWAY WIN

Nigerian forward Friday Osagie was in top form after scoring two goals and winning the man of the match award to inspire Chitipa United to a 2-1 win over his former team Goshen City Dedza Dynamos at the Dedza Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Osagie netted a goal in either half to put Basongo in a commanding lead and a late Chifuniro Mpinganjira's penalty goal did not deny them their first win away from home soil this season.

Head coach for the team Kondwa Ikwanga said hailed his tactical approach in the game and also the performance of his team.

"Having looked at today's game and our performance in our past game, you can see that we are quite improving which is good for us. The game involved a lot of decisions, some questionable, but the boys did well to hit them on a counter which worked for us," said Ikwanga.

He however questioned the penalty which the hosts were awarded saying it was a dubious one but good that they have won.
