MWALILINO FIRES 10-MAN KARONGA PAST CRECK
Blessings Mwalilino netted his 11th goal of the season in his maiden league for Karonga United to inspire the team to a 0-1 win over Creck Sporting Club at the Aubrey Dimba Stadium despite having a man down on Sunday afternoon.
The visitors saw their captain, Nanson Mbewe receiving a second yellow card on 71st minute but Mwalilino capitalised on a lapse on the team's defense to net the winner 8 minutes later and take the team on fifth position.
Assistant coach for Karonga United, Crespo Chimkwita, said his boys were already prepared psychologically as when a team is playing away, many things happen.
"First let me recommend the boys for the fantastic win, we came here and managed to get three points, we prepared them psychologically as when you are playing away, they may award the home team a fake penalty or give you a fake red card and you saw we were given a card but we told them to concentrate and I am happy for the win." Said Chimkwita.

"IT COULD HAVE BEEN 2-2 DESPITE WITH EXTRA PLAYER" - PASUWA
FCB Nyasa Big Bullets head coach, Kalisto Pasuwa, was not happy with his team's performance in the last 10 minutes of the Blantyre after conceding a goal and on pressure against a 10 man Mighty Mukuru Wanderers on Saturday.
He said this after the team's 1-2 win at the Kamuzu Stadium where he said this will be a motivation for the team after struggling with form in their matches this season.
He however was not happy with their play in the final minutes of the game.
"They played a good game yes but again 75-80 minutes we ended up conceding unnecessary goal, we are lacking a leader in the team, they were playing with a player less then we made a scoreboard blunder that ended up costing ourselves, it could have been 2-2 they were coming on us but we were having an extra guy so we need to manage the ball as we can." He said.
He also said that the team will keep on pushing until the final match as they still put themselves in c
contention for the Championship with 7 games to go.
A win had put the People's team up to third in the league with 40 points from 23 games played in the TNM Super League.
"We are coming down, as we have been saying, you can't rule out with 7 games remember we are playing 30 games and that's why I say we will see at the end of the day In our last day."

The best is yet to come, says Raphinha
Barcelona star, Raphinha, continues to enjoy his current season at the team this season after stirring them to their first win against Bayern MΓΌnchen since 2015 in a 4-1 victory in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.
The Brazilian opened the scores with just a minute but Robert Lewandowski restored the lead against his former team on 36th minute after his successor at Bayern, Harry Kane had levelled the scores on 18th minute.
The Brazilian put Barca at 3-1 in the added time of the first half before completing his hat trick on 56th minute after making a brilliant run off Lamine Yamal's brilliant pass.
Having not scored a hat trick in his career, Raphinha's transformation at Barca has been huge this season as he has managed to get two hat tricks already this season.
"This is not my game in game in Barca's shirt, it is one of the best. The best is yet to come." Said Raphinha.
Meanwhile, his manager Hansi Flick was left stunned with the
Brazilian's performance saying the player is just extra ordinary.
Hansi Flick: βI have never had a player like Raphinha in any of my teams. He gives his all. Raphinha puts his heart into it. With and without the ball, he is very good. He always starts the pressing, finishes our chances. He is always smiling.β
The win is second for Barca in the Champions League this season having lost the first match against Monaco before beat Young Boys in their second fixture.

"MOST OF GUYS ARE BACK FROM INJURIES" - PASUWA
FCB Nyasa Big Bullets head coach, Kalisto Pasuwa, says he is relieved to have most of his players in the team's squad back from their injuries and they are good to go in the forthcoming Blantyre Derby.

"As you know we last played over the weekend, all the boys I think it's just two or three guys who are nursing injuries but most of them in the squad are back. Each and everyone maybe knows what it is to play a derby." Said Pasuwa.
He said the derby is a most historic match where even the players would say in the future that they were part of the game so there is a need to motivate the players so they get a positive result.
The People's team are fourth on the standing with 37 points from 22 games played this season.

Haaland's acrobat strike wows Foden
England International, Phil Foden was left speechless with his teammate, Erling Haaland's brilliant strike as Manchester City walloped Sparta Prague 5-0 in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday at the Etihad stadium.
Having put the Cityzen's ahead in the third minute of the game, Foden watched Savinho brilliantly setting up Haaland and in the air finishing the ball in an acrobatic way to double the scores.
He said what Haaland does is hard for other players to do and he does not even know how he does it.
Foden said: βI told Haaland: mate, if I tried to do that sort of goal, I would pull my groin. I donβt know how he does it! Itβs just how long his legs are. Heβs insane, itβs only him who can score that one."
John Stones was on target for the team's third before Foden setting up Haaland for the fourth and Mattheus Nunes scored from the spot to mark a five star performance.

"A DERBY IS DERBY EVEN IF TEAMS ARE BOTTOM" - PASUWA
FCB Nyasa Big Bullets head coach, Kalisto Pasuwa, believes that the Blantyre Derby is usually tough regardless the positions of the teams on the log table and that the forthcoming match can help in the decision of the League championship.
He said this during a pre-match interview with the media on Thursday morning saying even if the teams are bottom of the table, they still fight as if it is a title decider.
"It can be so [that it will decide the Championship] but remember a derby is always a derby or even if we are bottom but it is one of the games we tell the boys to go and fight so it's usually a tough game." Said Pasuwa.
He further said this is one of the week which makes it simple to motivate players to start performing better as a derby win looks good for the players always and needs to avoid past mistakes and start from where they left when they beat the Nomads 1-2 in the FDH Bank Cup.

FAZILI OPTIMISTIC OF DEFENDING COSAFA CUP
Scorchers head coach, Lovemore Fazili, says his team is far much better than last year's Championship winning team despite the absence of professional players saying he has more quality in all departments in the team.
He said this on Tuesday afternoon ahead of the team's opening match of the Group B of the COSAFA Women's Championship 2024 edition in South Africa against Botswana.
He said he expects tough matches in the group where Madagascar and Mauritius are other opponents as all teams are equally good.
He said, "We expect tough matches as Botswana is a good team, they went to the World Cup so they are capable of causing harm and Madagascar and Mauritius are improving everyday so we are not underrating any team."
He further downplayed the fears that the team can struggle without the presence of professional players such as Tabitha and Temwa Chawinga, Rose Kabzere, Chimwemwe Madise, Ireen Khumalo and Chioma Okafor saying he has quality pl
players who also deserved to play outside Malawi.
"We have a good team, the unavailability of those players gives us a chance for plan B so the two professionals we have in the squad is our plan B and also we have talented players in the team who deserved also to be professionals and maybe this team is more better than last year's team." Added Fazili.
After winning last year's trophy, Fazili said the team has gone in the rainbow nation to defend it despite many Malawians not giving them chances.
