Eagles down Silver to return to winning ways

Blue Eagles are back to winning ways in the FDH Premiership after securing a heroic 1-0 win over Silver Strikers to hand the Bankers their first defeat of the season at the Civo Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The team was coming from a 1-0 loss in Chitipa and survived from a penalty miss early in the game before Bennet Konyo netting a 30th minute goal to secure the win.

Head coach for the team, De Klerk Msakakuona hailed his players for their outstanding performance which help them to grab the win.

"It was a tough game as you know we are coming from a loss in Chitipa and also facing a team that won their first two games but the players have done very well, I'm very happy with the win," said Msakakuona.

He also said that after a bad start into the game, he told the players to stay focused which they managed till the final whistle.

The win took the Area 30 based side up to third in the League with 6 points from two wins and one defeat.

Eagles ready to fly in Chitipa

Blue Eagles head coach, De Kleck Msakakuona, says his team needs to improve on their weaknesses encountered in their first League game and maintain their strengths as they go into the second week of the League.

He said this ahead of their match against Chitipa United away at the Chitipa Stadium on Sunday and believes that his team is capable of doing well in the game.

"Lets forget about our win against Ekhaya, our game against Chitipa United is a different game and we need to get prepared so that we should do better," he said.

He also hailed the team's new players who he said they performed very well against Ekhaya and believes that they will maintain their play in their games.

The Eagles are on position two in the league as they grabbed three points from one game on the log table.

Sankhani's misfortunes knock Eagles out of Castel Cup

Substitute Sankhani Mkandawire made a costly blunder in the very last minute of the game before missing a penalty kick in the shootout as Blue Eagles bottled away their lead to suffer a 4-3 defeat against Goshen City Dedza Dynamos in the Castel Challenge Cup on Saturday at the Kamuzu Stadium.

Blue Eagles came inches closer to book a place in the final twice, in the regulation time and shootout but failed as luck went on Dynamos.

Micium Mhone stroke in the 84th minute with a powerful strike but Mkandawire's blunder enabled substitute Gift Magola to score and take the game to the penalties.

In the shoutouts, Mkandawire, Lanken Mwale and Chikumbutso Bello Jr failed to score for Eagles as Christopher Phiri and Friday Osagie also missed for Dynamos but Peter Zulu netted the winner for the hosts.

Head coach for Eagles, De Klerk Msakakuona accepted the defeat saying luck was not on their side.
