SUBSTITUTE VIYUYI SENDS EAGLES TOP

Super Substitute Tonic Viyuyi came off the bench to score two goals and inspire Blue Eagles to a 3-2 win over Red Lions at the Nankhaka Stadium on Saturday to become the leading top goal scorer in the FDH Premiership.

The hosts were stunned by Shukuran Mussa's opener in the first half before introducing Viyuyi who levelled the scores in the 50th minute before Shamiuna Watch netting a worldie in the 61st minute but Matamando Matchipitsa levelled the scores five minutes later.

As the game was heading to a draw, Viyuyi netting an 88th minute winner to take Eagles up to the top of the league.

Head coach De Klerk Msakakuona described the game as tough as both teams had lost confidence after losing in their previous matches.

"We tried here and there maybe to play our normal game but we were struggling up until second half when we pushed to at least get a win and it has worked for us despite the game being tough," said Msakakuona.

EAGLES MISS TOP SPOT WITH SECOND LOSS

Blue Eagles failed to reclaim the top spot in the FDH Premiership log table after suffering a shocking 2-1 defeat over relegation zone side Kamuzu Barracks at the Civo Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Cops took a lead in the fifth minute courtesy of Farhad Mtcheka's goal but Kelvin Hanganda and Hope Namadzunda scored for the hosts to overturn the scores.

Head coach De Klerk Msakakuona accepted the result by saying KB were better than his team in the match.

"We played a side that is struggling and for sure they wanted to resurrect that's why they were better than us so we will just go back and see where we got it wrong," said Msakakuona.

Eagles entered the match week 10 while on top but have dropped down to fourth with 19 points from 10 games, two points behind Mighty Wanderers.
