Chawinga scores as Lyonness secure UWCL semi-final place
Scorchers captain, Tabitha Chawinga, came off the bench to score in the extra time as OL Lyoness secured a 4-0 win over Wolfsburg to advance into the semi finals of the UEFA Women's Champions League on Thursday.
Chawinga was not handed a start into the game and was introduced into the 69th minute as the game ended 1-0 after 90 minutes making it 1-1 on aggregate.
In the extra 30 minutes, Lyon were dominant as they bagged three more goals with Chawinga netting the final one in the 119th minute to seal the win.
The goal was her third in the competition and her team will face Arsenal Women in the semi finals, which knocked them out in the same stage last season.
In another match, Barcelona thrashed Real Madrid 12-2 and will meet Bayern Munchen in another semi final match.
