Songwe suffers Elite league relegation
TNM Super League rookies, Songwe Border United have become the first team to be officially relegated from the league with five games to spare after suffering a 3-0 defeat over Mzuzu City Hammers at the Karonga Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
The team cannot reach the amount of points for the team outside the relegation (24) as they remaining games could take them up to 21 points only.
The Ndenga Boys were promoted into the league last year after finishing top of the Northern Region Football League but struggled with performance as they have just managed to get one win and three draws in 25 games.
They have also conceded 59 goals in the league whilst scoring just 9 goals in their debut season.
The team will play in the NBS Bank National Division League next season in a bid to return to the Super League in 2027.
