10-MAN RED LIONS HOLD EKHAYA TO PICK SECOND POINT
Red Lions have picked their second point on their return in the Elite League after holding Ekhaya FC to a 1-1 draw at the Mpira Stadium on Saturday despite ending the game with a man less due to a red card.
The Zomba based side conceded first in the first half after the hosts dominated the game but substitute Calisto Harawa levelled the scores after the hour-mark to snatch a point for the team.
The team finished with a man down after Royal Bokosi got a second yellow with 12 minutes left on the clock but still held on to secure a point.
Head coach Malumbo Mkandawire hailed his boys for their fighting spirit which helped them to get a valuable point away from home.
"It was a tight match, we didn't play well in the first half but after the changes, we got many chances and converted one, anyway a point is not a bad result," said Mkandawire.
The team moved up to 6th on the table with two points from two draws as they remain unbeaten.
