Wanderers: We will not end in debts like in 2017
Mighty Wanderers club President and chairman of the team board, Dr Thomson Mpinganjira, has pledged for more support to the team as they play in the CAF Confederations Cup to avoid past mistakes when the team was choked by debts in 2017.
This has been known by the team's Chief Executive Officer, Panganeni Ndovi on Wednesday during a press briefing at the team's club house to give an update on how prepared is the team for the continental showpiece.
Ndovi said the team is financially ready and Mpinganjira promised to assist the team if they will provide the budget to him.
"He assured us that he will assist us if we will give him our budget and now we are finalising the cost of air tickets and other things and we will give him for the assistance." Said Ndovi.
Meanwhile, secretary to the board of the team, Council Chancy Gondwe, thanked Mpinganjira for the continued support to the team and believes the team will do better in the tournam
"We also have partners that have helped us but most of the assistance has been contributed by him so it will not end in tears it will not end in debts as we did in 2017." Highlighted Gondwe.
They return to the international stage for the first time since 2017 when they were knocked out by As Vita of DRC 6-1 on goal aggregate in the first preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.
The Nomads kick-start their campaign by facing Botswana Premier League champions, Jwaneng Galaxy on 21st September 2025 at the Bingu National Stadium before travelling to Botswana for the return leg in dates between 25-26 September 2025.
