Sulumba scores late to rescues Wanderers
Mighty Wanderers escaped their second league defeat after Muhammad Sulumba scored a 96th-minute equaliser to secure a 2-2 draw against Kamuzu Barracks in their coronation match at the Bingu National Stadium on Saturday.
The Nomads went down twice in the game, with John Banda and Zeliati Nkhoma scoring for the visitors, but substitutes Blessings Mwalilino and Sulumba came up with crucial goals to deny the Soldiers a win.
The result means Wanderers finish the season with 69 points, having won 20, drawn 9 and lost one.
Head coach for the Nomads, Bob Mpinganjira, hailed his boys for not giving up and was happy with the point taken from the match.
''It is always hard when you are playing while you already know that you are a champions. We didn't have our usual game but thanks to the boys for their fighting spirit and we go home smiling with this point,'' he said.
