Sulumba scores as Wanderers reach FDH Quarters
Veterans forward Muhammad Sulumba scored his first goal of his third tenure at Mighty Wanderers as they beat Mzuzu City Hammers 1-2 to progress to the FDH Bank Cup quarter finals on Thursday at the Rumphi Stadium.
The Nomads opened the scores through Blessings Singini who stunned his former employers on 34th minute before Sulumba netting the second on 48th minute and a Jeremiah Kanyika's 70th minute goal could not stop the Nomads progressing.
Head coach Bob Mpinganjira thanked his boys for their hard work as they managed to fight for a win in a pitch they are not used to play on.
"We worked hard for the win, it was a tough match because we were playing in a different surface and at some point of time we had a challenge where the wind was blowing to our goal so I'm happy that the boys worked hard in order to win," said Mpinganjira.
The Nomads join Silver Strikers as the two teams to reach the last 8 as the Bankers beat FC Shire 4-1.
