Mtondera inspire Baptist past Bangwe, Jomo blames officiation
NBS Bank National Division League top scorer, Raheem Mtondera, took his tally to 10 goals in just 7 games after netting twice to help Mitundu Baptist return to winning ways with a 2-1 win over Bangwe All Stars at the Civo Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The team was coming from a 3-1 loss over Chintheche United before the League's break to surrender their first position but Mtondera put Baptist ahead on the 40th minute but Moses Gunde levelled the scores from the spot on 50th minute and a minute later, Mtondera restored the lead to seal the win.
Team manager for the victors, Precious Phiri, said he was happy as the team returned to winning ways in the League.
"I'm very happy with the win as you know we are coming from a 3-1 defeat over Chintheche in Rumphi so this victory will put us somewhere in a better place." Said Phiri.
However, Bangwe All Stars head coach, Isaac 'Jomo' Osman was not happy with the officiation
into the game.
"I have to thank my boys for putting a gallant fight, they played well but we are saying now and then that our national team is not doing well and Football Association of Malawi is bringing up these kinds of tournaments so help developing our game, people are putting money and then referees come and destroy games. This is a minus." Said Jomo.
The result took Baptist back to second on the table with 15 points from 7 games having won five matches and lost two while Bangwe drop down to 5th on the table with 12 points from four wins and three defeats.
