Captain Moses guides Civil past Red sea
Civil Service United captain, Moses Banda, netted an 87th minute winner to pull the Civil servants out of the relegation zone as they beat TNM Super League leaders, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets 2-1 at the Civo Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The two teams played a low first half which did not yield goals but just five minutes into the second half, John Dambuleni fired the hosts ahead but it short-lived as substitute Ephraim Kondowe levelled with his first touch but Banda headed in home to seal the win.
Head coach for the hosts, Abbas Makawa, said he was happy with the win and how his boys played into the game.
"We have been playing good football only that we lack killer punch and today we created a lot of chances that could have made us win with three or four goals and we knew their strengths and weaknesses so we worked on that and I'm happy that we have won today." Said Makawa.
However, Peter Mponda of FCB Nyasa Big Bullets conceded the defeat and
was left disappointed with how his team played into the match.
"I am disappointed with the way the boys played, we failed to dictate the play and there was no fighting spirit in the boys so our friends capitalised on that, congratulations to them." Said Mponda.
The win took Civil from 14th to 11th on the table with 13 points from 11 games having claimed three wins, four draws and four defeats while Bullets remain top with 27 points from 9 wins and two defeats in the League.
