Poor Bankers starve in opening matches
TNM Super League defending Champions, Silver Strikers, remain winless in their opening two matches of the 2025 season after dropping points in Karonga on Saturday following a 2-2 draw against Chitipa United.
The Bankers went into the match seeking redemption after they lost 0-1 to FCB Nyasa Big Bullets in their League opener but Chitipa United put a much spirited second half performance to cancel out the Bankers lead and settle for a point.
Head coach for the Bankers Peter Mgangira said the game was their must win but they are failing to keep cleansheets in their recent matches.
"I can not make an individual blame but I think in our past three matches we have been conceding goals so we need to look into this and find a solution." said Mgangira.
The hosts went ahead after Andrew Joseph scores from the spot on the half hour-mark but the goal shortlived as Binwell Katinji levelled for minutes later before Chinsisi Maonga putting the Bankers ahea
d in the added minutes of the first half but Joseph Mbaga netted on 64th minute to settle for a draw.
The result means Silver Strikers remain 11th with a point from possible 6.
