Mithi Scores Again as Wanderers Sink Creck
Mighty Wanderers' new signing Lameck Mithi continued to be the main man for the team after inspiring the Nomads to a 2-0 win over Creck Sporting Club in the first leg of the Airtel Top 8 quarterfinal at Mpira Stadium on Saturday.
The Nomads struggled in the first half as they escaped frequent scares from the visitors, but scored twice in the opening four minutes of the second half to secure the win.
Blessings Mwalilino opened the scoring in the 47th minute before Mithi doubled the lead two minutes later. The Nomads put in a dominant display in the second half to maintain their dominance over Creck.
Head coach Bob Mpinganjira said he was happy with the win and keeping a clean sheet.
“It was a tough game as Creck came to bounce back from their recent struggles in the league, and cup games are tough. But I’m happy to have won the game and also not conceded,” said Mpinganjira.
He also said the goals will help them avoid pressure in the
return match as they already have a starting point.
The victory means the Nomads remain unbeaten against Creck in 8 meetings and will take a two-goal lead into the second leg at Aubrey Dimba Stadium next month.
