Scorchers vice captain, Temwa Chawinga, has been named as a player of the week in the National Womens Soccer League in USA after her outstanding performance over the weekend.

Chawinga netted a hattrick to inspire Kansas City Current to a 3-0 win over Chicago Stars, also netting her first goals of the 2026-27 season in the process.

Her team sits 6th with 12 points from 8 games while the star trail by five goals in the golden boot race over Orlando Pride's forward, Barbra Banda.
