Hammers move out of relegation with first League derby win
Mzuzu City Hammers have moved out of the relegation zone of the TNM Super League table after claiming a 0-2 win over Moyale Barracks at the Rumphi Stadium on Wednesday.
The team were winless in 8 meetings in the League having lost twice and drawn 6 times but managed to end Moyale's unbeaten run thanks to Moses Gwayi and Jeremiah Kanyika's goals in the first half.
Assistant head coach for the Hammers, Luckson Mauluka Nyoni, said the team needed the win as they have lost many games in the League.
"It was a tough match as Moyale came to find an early goal but we scored on the third minute then we got another one which boosted the morale of the boys. We are coming from a string of losses so I told the boys to win the Derby." Said Nyoni.
The win took Hammers up to 13th on the table with 7 points from 7 games after winning two games, drawing one and losing in four matches.
