Mitundu beat Zitha to retain top spot
Central Region side, Mitundu Baptist, maintained their perfect start of the NBS Bank National Division League season after beating Namitete Zitha 2-1 in their first home match played at the Civo Stadium on Sunday to retain the top spot.
Josophat Kwalira opened the scores for the hosts on 58th minute before Horace Mchoma doubling the lead 10 minutes later but Mathews Hamza's 76th minute strike brought no trouble on Mitundu which matched on to their third win of the season.
Head coach for the Victor's, Audrow Makonyola, described the match as his toughest in the tournament so far but he anticipated that as it was a derby.
"It was a tough game because this is a Derby, even in the Chipiku League we gsvd each other tough time but I am happy that we have won, this game has really shown us that we are now good in the tournament." Said Makonyola.
Meanwhile, Zitha head coach, Richard Fosiko accepted the defeat saying they really tried but Mitundu cam
e out strong.
"It was a tough game for us you know this is a derby so yes we tried but Mitundu won, we accept the defeat and we move on." said Fosiko.
The win puts Mitundu up to top of the Standings with 9 points from three games having scored 9 and conceded just one goal while Zitha are fifth with 6 points from two wins and defeat having scored three goals and conceded two.
