MAFCO ASKS SULOM TO PUNISH LUNGU TOO
MAFCO FC has asked Super League of Malawi to act on the incident that showed that Wongani Lungu also kicked Victor Mwale following the incident that took place when they played FCB Nyasa Big Bullets.
This follows a response to the charges placed on them by SULOM after their four players, Blessings Chandiyang'ana, Vitumbiko Phiri, Victor Mwale and Christopher Mikuwa were charged of assaulting Bullets players.
In a letter signed by the team's general secretary, Captain Mike Utale, says the Association should also look into the clip which showed Lungu kicked Mwale during the incident.
"We also released a media statement to the effect of condemning the unsportsmanlike behaviour perpetrated by the two players apart from the fact that Mr WONGANI LUNGU is also seen in some clip kicking VITUMBIKO PHIRI between the legs. We would also like to request your office to look into the matter where Mr WONGANI LUNGU is seen kicking VITUMBIKO PHIRI between the le
legs." The part of the letter stipulated.
Meanwhile, the team has declined some of the charges for instance, the assault on Chawanangwa Gumbo by Mikuwa was treated by the referee for flashing a yellow card on him, Article 26.2.8 does not work on Duncan Mwale as it stipulates on assault on referee, his assistants or supporters not on fellow player and that as it says, it didn't cause any public danger but on one player.
They also have declined the charge on the act of violence and act of unsporting behaviour saying there is no evidence on these charges and the charge on the team for bringing the game into disruption, that can not count as the incident happened when the game was still on and the officials could have gone in the field only with referees' permission.
Meanwhile, they have asked SULOM to consider on what their captain did to try and calm down the situation and allow the game to continue.
In the game, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets won 1-0 thanks to a goal scored by Phodo.
