"CONGRATULATIONS DR CHAKWERA FOR MAKING MALAWI QUALIFY" - HAIYA

Football Association of Malawi President, Fleetwood Haiya, has congratulated the state President, Dr Lazarus Chakwera, for making Malawi Beach Soccer team qualify for the African Cup of Nations after the team beat Burundi 15-14 on aggregate on Saturday afternoon.

Haiya made the sentiments after an 8-8 draw at the Livingstonia Beach in Salima which confirmed the team's second consecutive qualification and said FAM are just managers but government owns the national teams.

"Indeed we are very happy as Football Association of Malawi we are very pleased that we have done a very good job, as you aware that for the national teams we are just managers but otherwise it's for the country and we work on behalf of the government so let me congratulate his excellency Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera for making beach soccer to qualify for the African Cup of Nations.
