Malawi knocked out of COSAFA Cup
There is no any arithmetic that can be used to save Malawi from being knocked out of the COSAFA Cup and progress into the semi final on the final day after the team played a goalless draw against Namibia on Sunday.
A 4-0 win for Angola over Lesotho opened chances for the Flames to progress through to the next round but the team failed to find a goal despite putting a much spirited performance in the game.
Assistant coach, Peter Mponda, hoped that the team could reach the semis after beating Angola on Tuesday but it seems possible and the team will return home after the final group match.
If Malawi beat Angola, they will finish on top of the defending Champions with a head-to-head advantage but the issue lies on the crash between second placed Lesotho and third placed Namibia.
If Lesotho wins and Malawi also win, they both will have four points but Lesotho will have a head-to-head advantage as they beat Malawi 1-0 in the opening fixture of group B.
