Bangwe secure first NDL victory
Bangwe All Stars have secured their first victory in their second season in the NBS Bank National Division League after beating fellow bottom of the table side Changalume Barracks at the Mpira Stadium on Friday afternoon.
Joshua Masache opened the scores in the first half after 22 minutes before Upile Kapunja sealing the win with his second goal of the season in the 78th minute for the Amaghetto Kids to end their three-game losing streak in the NDL.
Head coach for Bangwe All Stars Isaac Jomo Osman believes that this could be their turn-around of things in the league.
"We made a good plan for this game because we fielded only two defenders and all were attackers. We started badly and finally we have a win, still more there is a lot to be done so that we maintain the performance displayed today," said Osman.
His opposite number, Austin Mndolo, said their approach to the game was bad leading to a bad performance in a game they deserved to win.
"We were coming from four draws meaning we were supposed to win this one but we will go back to see what went wrong to set things right. We are remaining with three games in the first round so we will fight to at least have two wins because the league is quite open," said Mndolo.
The result means Bangwe All Stars have moved up to 11th on the table with five points from one win, two draws and five defeats while Changalume Barracks moved down to the bottom with four points from four draws and four defeats.
