Dedza Dynamos Edge Blue Eagles, Reach First Cup Final
Goshen City Dedza Dynamos produced a dramatic comeback to score a 95th-minute equalizer before going on to beat Blue Eagles 4-3 on penalties, following a 1-1 draw in regulation time, in the Castel Challenge Cup semifinals at Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday.
The late goal scored by substitute Magola forced the game into penalties where Dynamos emerged victorious. This thrilling win marks their first-ever cup final appearance since promotion to the Elite League in 2021.
Micium Mhone had put Eagles ahead in the 84th minute, but Magola's late strike leveled the game. In the penalty shootout, Dynamos proved stronger, winning 4-3.
Head coach Alex Ngwira praised his team's fighting spirit, saying, "We could have finished the game in the first half, but we missed chances. Our complacency helped Eagles score, but we thank God we didn't give up."
Dynamos will face the winner of FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Mzuzu City Hammers in the final.
