Kamwendo brings right formula at Villa
Joseph Kamwendo guided Mchinji Villa to their second win of the season in the NBS Bank National Division League after coming from behind to beat leaders, Red Lions in a match played at the Mchinji Community Ground on Saturday afternoon.
The Mchinji based side had not win a game prior to Kamwendo's hiring but after beating Ntaja United 0-1 last weekend, the team put up a much spirited second half to beat Red Lions which was unbeaten in 7 consecutive matches.
Abel GΓ©rard scored first for Red Lions on 29th minute as they led at half time but Juwao Davie levelled on 63rd minute before Kelvin Mustafa netting the winner 7 minutes later.
After the match, Kamwendo thanked his boys for the win as he said the game was very tough for the team.
"We faced a good team that has a good history in Football and after going down in the first half, I told them to build from last week's win over Ntaja and they came strong, scoring two goals against Red Lion
is not simple I thank them." Said Kamwendo.
On his part, Malumbo Mkandawire of the visitors easily conceded the defeat saying it is part of the game.
"We started very well as we got a goal and in the second half we wanted to attack more that's we made changes which didn't go as planned so this one is gone, we will look into our problem so that our next game against Mitundu at home we do better." Said Mkandawire.
Mchinji Villa remained 10th in the log table but took their points up to 9 from two wins, three draws and four defeats while Lions remain top with 19 points from 6 wins, one draw and two losses in the League.
