2020/21 TNM Super League registers few goals compared to last season; 6 hat-tricks recorded
The season which began on 28th November 2020, was concluded on 16th October 2021 with Nyasa Big Bullets being crowned as champions after amassing 62 points from 30 matches they played in the league.
Comparing to previous seasons, most games in the country's elite league where played in closed doors due to Covid-19 pandemic.
The global pandemic greatly impacted the league which forced football authorities to suspend games at some point for the safety of players and all stakeholders involved.
These developments contributed to some teams and players losing their form.
For example, as compared to last season (2019/20); the 2020/21 registered few goals, with 509 goals recorded while last season 564 goals were scored.
Out of the 509 goals, top goal-scorers scored 6 hat-tricks while in 2019/20 season; out of 564 goals, 5 hat-tricks where scored.
The 2020/21 TNM Super League Golden Boot winner, Hassan Kajoke alongside Silver Strikers Maxwell Gasten Phodo, Chifuniro Mpinganjira of Blue Eagles, Royal Bokosi (Red Lions).
Ekwendeni Hammers star Clever Kaira and Likoswe Potipher Likoswe are players who bagged the hat-tricks.
And in the 2019/20 season it was the current Nyasa Big Bullets forward Babatunde Adepoju, former Silver Strikers player Khuda Muyaba, TN Stars' Wister Phiri and Micium Mhone who netted hat-tricks.
Nyasa Big Bullets have won the TNM Super League for the third time in a row and they will receive K25 million while Silver Strikers pockets K8 million as runners-up.
