NBS Bank adjusts NDL package to K0.53 billion
NBS Bank Plc. has adjusted the sponsorship package for the National Division League from K270 million to K530 million for the second edition of the League.
The announcement has been on Wednesday at the Mpira Village in Chiwembe where the Bank alongside Football Association of Malawi held a Media award presentation for the tournament.
Speaking during the ceremony, head of Marketing for the bank, Frank Kazembe, said the adjustment reflects to the bank's commitment in developing football in the country.
"Season one was a great experience for us as we engaged with a lot of customers but the greatest story we have heard this afternoon about the transformation we've seen from players and teams that participated in the first season that has inspired us to extend our stay," he said.
Meanwhile, FAM Executive member and Vice Chairperson of the Competitions and marketing committee, Daudi Ntanthiko, thanked the bank for the package as they have
shown to be a true friend to the game of the football.
He said the NDL is a well organised League in management and administration to the level of the English Premier League and said they will maintain the discipline that was shown in the first season.
"The League is a success because it went well. We saw a proper alignment of games amongst the teams in the League and also after two weeks in the Elite League, teams from the NDL are still unbeaten and also did well in club licensing which is a positive news for us," he said.
The second season of the NDL will kick off on Sunday in Mchinji with Extreme FC facing Namitete Zitha at the Mchinji Community Ground.
According to the new package, each team will receive K20 million for subvention fee and also two kits for home and away in the League. The winners of this season will bag K25 million with the runners up taking home K12.5 million and a third placed team will take home K7.5 million.
