FAM hope for NBM renewed deal
Football Association of Malawi is optimistic that National Bank of Malawi will extend its sponsorship deal for the NBM Women's Premiership and Under 23 NBM Championship following the expiry of the contract.
This was said on Tuesday during the NBM Media awards presentation held at the Bank's head quarters at Money Men in Blantyre.
The Bank pumped in K1.5 billion for the two tournaments for a year contract meaning they planned to extend the deal after assessing the outcomes of the tournament.
Head of Retail Banking at NBM, Oswin Kasunda, said the bank will decide on whether to continue working with FAM after assessment and discussions with the football mother body.
"We will open our discussions soon with FAM where we will see how the Leagues have been managed and the benefits and after that, we will make a decision which could also be that we will stay longer so we will communicate," said Kasunda.
Meanwhile, FAM President Fleetwood Haiya said he is
much confident that the bank will renew the deal for a longer period.
"We are still under discussion because they are already underway and the bank has assured us that they will commit to sponsoring the leagues so I can tell that they will extend the deal," he said hopefully.
Apart from sponsoring the two leagues, NBM also sponsors the Malawi National Womens team which has contributed to the rise and good performances from the team.
