Silver board confirms CAF participation

Silver Strikers will play in the CAF Champions League in the 2025-26 season after the team's board approved budget to be used in the tournament.

This has been confirmed by Governor for the Reserve Bank of Malawi, Dr Mafuta Mwale, during an award presentation at the Sunbird Capital Hotel in Lilongwe on Saturday.

Mwale said everything is set and has challenged not just to participate but to compete.

"Let me confirm to you that your budget to participate in the CAF Champions League. Its a mistake, you will compete not participate." Said Mwale.

He also said the team will have a world class travelling bus by the month of May.

"We will have soon have a world class bus which even Manchester United can use. The deputy governor was just confirming that by May we will have it here." He added.

The Bankers qualified for the continental tournament after winning the TNM Super League in the 2024 season.

Idana overall best for Silver but not midfield

Despite missing the best midfielder of the season award, Silver Strikers midfielder Chimwemwe Idana, has been named as the player of the season for the club in 2024.

Nicknamed Gatusso, Idana received the award at Sunbird Capital Lodge in Lilongwe on Saturday as the club awarded the best players following a stellar performance in 2024.

During the event, Governor for the Reserve Bank of Malawi, Dr Mafuta Mwale, challenged the players to defend the TNM Super League and more opportunities will follow.

Lasuli Jali was named as the Silver Reserve player of the year and Chikondi Gondwe won the top scorer and player of the season for the Womens team.

For the senior team, Chinsisi Maonga is the most improved player, Binwell Katinji is the top scorer, the best midfielder is Uchizi Vunga, Macdonald Lameck is the best defender and best goalkeeper is George Chikooka.

The Bankers had had a bright 2024 season where their senior and Youth teams won

SABINA THOM LEAVES TP MAZEMBE

Scorchers forward, Sabina Thom, has penned a farewell letter to TP Mazembe Feminine as she confirms her departure after staying for two years at the team.

The forward wrote the message on Monday through her Facebook account where she describe the period with the team as good.

"As I bid farewell to this incredible team and the city that has been my home for the past 2 years, I am filled with mixed emotions. It has been an absolute honor and privilege to wear the @fcTPMfemeni jersey and represent this prestigious club.

Since joining the team in 2023, I have had the opportunity to be a part of some of the most memorable moments in the club’s history. Together, we have lifted several trophies and these achievements are a testament to hard work, dedication and I feel privileged to have been a part of this team.

Ekhaya Football Club has announced their third signing of the day as they sign Christopher Gototo on loan from Silver Strikers.

The former Ascent Academy forward has joined the Cowboys on a one year deal.

Last season, he was sent out on loan again at Civil Service United where he still struggled with form.

The team earlier on announced the signing of Fanizo Mwansambo and Innocent Msowoya both from Bangwe All Stars.

Meck Mwase has been unveiled as a head coach for Mbabane Highlanders in Eswatini today.

Mwase returns at the team as he led them in 2015-16 season where the team finished second in the League, their best finish in the League over the past decade.

This is his first job since leaving Mighty Wanderers last season due to his own reasons.

DRC based Scorchers duo, Sabina Thom and Chimwemwe Madise, arrived in the country over the weekend and joined the rest of the team in training today ahead of the February Women’s FIFA Window friendlies against Zambia.

The two are part of the 7 professionals who will play for the team against the Cooper Queens.

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets has confirmed the departure of forward, Antony Mfune, from the team as the player reach an agreement to leave.

The team has announced the news through their Website on Monday afternoon.

Mfune had his name not available in the team's 25 member squad for the 2025 season but now is still nursing an injury as he went to Zambia for a knee surgery.

Bullets signed Mfune from Karonga United and has won numerous title with the team.

Ekhaya unveils Mwansambo

In a twist of events, newly promoted Ekhaya Football Club, has unveiled Bangwe All Stars defender, Fanizo Mwansambo, who has penned a two years contract.

The team has confirmed about the news on Monday through their Facebook page hours after missing Precious Sambani's deal.

"Ekhaya FC is excited to announce the signing of Fanizo Mwansambo from Bangwe All Stars.

The 24-year-old defender joins The Cowboys on a two-year contract." Wrote Ekhaya.

Meanwhile, Bangwe All Stars made a communication that Mwansambo has joined Mighty Wanderers but he had already put to paper at the Cowboys.

Mwansambo made 36 appearances across all competitions for his former club last season and has been with the team for five years as a captain.
