Ascent beat Wanderers to maintain top spot
Central region giants, Ascent Academy, maintained their perfect start in the National Bank of Malawi National Women's Premiership after beating Mighty Wanderers Women 0-2 at the Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Mayamiko Mkandawire scored in each half of the game as the visitors sweated to edge the Nomads and seal their second win in their opening two games in the League.
Head coach for the team, Thom Nkolongo, was however not impressed with the team's play into the game as he said there is much to be looked into.
"It was not a good game as both teams did not play well. We kept the much but we could pass without purpose which is a concern because when you keep the ball much and score less means it's a problem." Said Nkolongo.
Meanwhile, Mighty Wanderers Women Sungeni Msiska, said the attitudes of the players into the game in the first half cost them a lot in the game.
"It was not a tough match but I think in the first half the g
girls did not put faith in themselves but in the second half, we told them to remove the fears which worked a bit but still we failed to score." Said Msiska.
Ascent Academy remain top of the League with 6 points from two wins in the league while the Nomads drop down to fourth with three points from one win and one draw.
