ANALYST APPLAUDS SILVER ON MGANGIRA HIRING
One of the country's soccer analyst, Justin Mitambo, says Silver Strikers has taken a great move to hire Peter Mgangira as their head coach as he is now having a vast experience plus knows the culture of the team.
He said this after reports that the Bankers has settled for Mgangira to replace Peter Mponda who has left the team one year after coming at the Area 47 side.
He believes it's time now to utilize home grown talent now as Mgangira knows the culture of the team having been at the team for years now.
"Mgangira knows football pattern of silver strikers. He has been there for a while under different mentors. He was there with Mponda, he knows tactics of Mponda, Silver wanted someone like him indeed." Said Mitambo.
Mgangira, who played for the team also during his playing time, was a deputy coach under Mponda in the title winning 2024 season and was with Peter De Jongh and also Dan Kabwe at the team.

"It is an important game to us, of course we concluded the league last week but we need to finish on high and also see how the players are because we lost in Mulanje because they were relaxed so we need to see them now." Said Mponda.
However, he thanked his team's supporters for their overwhelming support this season that has also helped the team much to win the League.
The Bankers have managed to pick 18 wins, 10 draws and a defeat in 29 games played this season and have managed to get 64 points in these matches.
MPONDA SALUTES KAFOTEKA AS SILVER MISSES BIG RECORD
Silver Strikers head coach, Peter Mponda, has given credit to Elvis Kafoteka for his brilliant approach of the game that helped FOMO FC grab three points and hand the Bankers their first loss of the season.
Mponda said this after suffering a 1-0 defeat at the Mulanje Park Stadium on Wednesday afternoon in a game he believed his players were relaxed and also that FOMO deserved a win for their brilliant performance in the game.
"This is a painful loss, we didn't create much so that we can get a goal today and I think these are one of the things we need to have so that we say how did we win the League in reflection to today's performance and also I should salute coach Elvis, they came to win and they really fought." Said Mponda.
Meanwhile, the Bankers could have become the first team to finish the League unbeaten and win the League in the process after ESCOM United finished unbeaten but failed to win the League in 2010.

Meanwhile, he said: "I should thank the supporters for trusting me and giving me a room to work and also the board members who faced problems but still said they want me so they have been rewarded."

"WE WANT TO FINISH THE LEAGUE" - MPONDA
Silver Strikers head coach, Peter Mponda, says he expects a very tough game facing Mighty Mukuru Wanderers on Saturday as the Nomads are desperate for three points but his team wants to finish the League on the day.
He said this ahead of the match at the Kamuzu Stadium where the top two teams meet and a win for the Bankers will officially make them Champions while Wanderers win will active their chances to win the League.
However, Peter Mponda said, "It is going to be tough game looking at how good Wanderers and how desperate they are to get three points in order to stay in contention but we are ready, the boys have been doing well in the past games and we can't disappoint ourselves now." Said Mponda.

"TAKING FOUR POINTS ON BULLETS WE DESERVE THE LEAGUE" - MPONDA
Silver Strikers head coach, Peter Mponda, says taking four points on defending Champions, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets, shows how good the team is and they just deserve to win the League this season.
He said this after playing a 0-0 draw at the Silver Stadium on Saturday to drop two points in an advantage to Mighty Mukuru Wanderers who sit five points behind the Bankers with four games to go.
Mponda said the game had few chances from both teams in the match and a draw is a true reflection of the game.
"We were playing defending Champions, a team that has won the league four consecutive times plus they won four trophies last season and getting four points from them is good for us and we deserve the League [Championship]." Said Mponda.
The team remains top of the standings with 58 points from 26 games, five behind title chasers, Wanderers.

"BULLETS DIDN'T DESERVE TO WIN" - MPONDA
Silver Strikers head coach, Peter Mponda, says FCB Nyasa Big Bullets were just lucky to win the Airtel Top 8 final as it was his side that dominated the play in the game and deserved to lift the trophy.
He said this after the match which they lost 0-1 at the Bingu National Stadium on Saturday afternoon and believes FCB Nyasa Big Bullets did nothing that has made them to win the game.
"It's a painful defeat we did everything we analysed them we neutralised their strength, I don't think that Bullets did anything to deserve to win this game and sometimes in football you need lucky to win and that's what has happened to Bullets today." Said Mponda.
This could have been the team's first trophy under Mponda and their possible trophy to lift this season is the TNM Super League which Mighty Mukuru Wanderers is trying to challenge them.
Mponda explains how to beat Bullets
Silver Strikers head coach, Peter Mponda, says his team needs to find a way to break FCB Nyasa Big Bullets' defense as they seem to have solid defense but still they are weak in the attack.
He said this ahead of their Airtel Top 8 final against the People's team on Saturday at the Bingu National Stadium and said looking at how these teams have scored and conceded goals in the tournament, he has to use that in order to win the game.
"We have scored 7 and conceded two whereas our friends have scored four they haven't conceded , we need to fight a way to unlock their defense it looks like they are tight at the back, they are not attacking much that's why they haven't scored goals." Said Mponda.
The Bankers will be looking for their first trophy with Peter Mponda as their head coach and will have to beat the defending Champions in the final.
The Bankers had to beat Mighty Mukuru Wanderers 1-0 to book a place in the final whereas FCB Nyasa Big Bullet
MPONDA HAPPY WITH SILVER'S STATE
Silver Strikers head coach, Peter Mponda, says he is very happy with how his team is so far as they have performed very well despite that it was a new team under a new coach but the players adapted well to the way they play.
Mponda spoke this ahead of their match against FCB Nyasa Big Bullets in the Airtel Top 8 finals at the Bingu National Stadium on Saturday afternoon where he sees many good reasons to win the trophy.
"It's a mixed feeling there's is a little bit of pressure that we have to win this fight but also it is a good team because it was a new squad, a new coach, the guys adapted to the way we played and I'm happy with the way we are." Said Mponda.
He further applauded the hard work of the players that has seen them placed on where they are now, in the League where they are top and in the final of the Airtel Top 8.
"The guys have worked hard to be where they are at this point of the season. If you look at the League, we haven't lost any
game and we worked so hard in the Airtel from Quarter finals, Semi final reaching into the final." Added Mponda.
Ahead of the big fixture where he is facing is boyhood side, he said his team is very ready but will have to work very hard in order to win the trophy which he believes it is a reward for the team's hard work this season.
The Bankers had to beat Mighty Mukuru Wanderers in the semi finals last week 1-0 to book their place in the final and they will be up for a revenge as last year, they were beaten on penalties by the People's team in the final.
MWASE, NYONI MISS AIRTEL TOP 8 FINAL
Silver Strikers will not have it two players, Nickson Mwase and Duncan Nyoni, as they miss the match due to suspension and an injury respectively.
The team has confirmed about the absence of the two players through it's website ahead of the big match against FCB Nyasa Big Bullets on Saturday at the Bingu National Stadium.
Mwase picked two yellow cards in the team's 1-0 win over Mighty Mukuru Wanderers in the semi final of the tournament last week while Duncan Nyoni picked a muscle injury when the team played Panthers FC in the Castel Challenge Cup where he scored two goals to force the game into penalties.

"WE HAVE A GOOD SQUAD THAN BULLETS" - MPONDA
Silver Strikers head coach, Peter Mponda says his team has a very good squad compared to that of FCB Nyasa Big Bullets but they need to work extra hard in order to win the Airtel Top 8 this season.
The former FCB Nyasa Big Bullets deputy coach said this ahead of the Airtel Top 8 final at the Bingu National Stadium on Saturday against his former team and said his team is very ready to eclipse the results of the last season when they lost in the final.

"THAT'S WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU UNDERRATE OPPONENTS" - MPONDA
Silver Strikers head coach, Peter Mponda has described their exit in the Castel Challenge Cup round of 32 stage as painful but it is as a result of underrating a team they were facing.
He said this after suffering a 3-4 defeat in post match penalties following a 2-2 draw in the 90 minutes and Mponda said his players failed to perform better as they usually do.
"It's a painful result yes and I'm not pleased with the performance and also the result, that what happens when you underrate your opponents, we are now out of the Castel Challenge Cup, we move on." Said Mponda.
He further said that he tried to rest some of his players because they are tired after playing last Saturday and have also a tough assignment on Saturday.
The Bankers were also knocked out of the FDH Bank Cup two months ago in a similar fashion when Blue Eagles stunned them in post match penalties.
