HAMMERS SUFFER FIRST HOME LOSS
Mzuzu City Hammers have suffered their first home League match defeat at the Mzuzu Stadium as they went down 0-1 to Karonga United in a match played on Saturday afternoon in the TNM Super League.
Raphael Nkhoma's first half strike was enough to diffuse a naughty Hammers when playing at home as the visitors managed to defend their lead till the final whistle.
Head coach for the team, Kondwa Ikwanga, said his team could have done better to defend the goal they conceded but added that his defense has been betraying the team much this season.
"It was a fair game, we just gave themselves a room to play but otherwise we could have won the game in the first half but we underrated Karonga United so we conceded the goal which we could have defended then in the second half, too much pressures, long and high balls so we could have won the game." Said Ikwanga.
He further said that fans need to get worried with the team's losses which are as a result of a poor de
defense and has run out of ideas on how to train them.
The team remain third on the standings with 31 points from 20 games they have played so far in this season.
HAMMERS COACH SUSPECTS 'SOMETHING' BEHIND TEAM'S HARD LUCK
Mzuzu City Hammers head coach, Kondwa Ikwanga says he is failing to understand what is going on with his team as they manage to play well, create chances but fail to convert them into goals.
He said this after the team's 3-0 defeat over Civil Service United at the Civo Stadium and said there is something that went wrong to what they planned for the game and he does not understand how his team is missing chances mostly.
"I don't understand what is going on and I'm failing even to explain it, the boys are playing well but I don't know this hard luck, we are creating chances but failing t score. If we started like the way we finished I tell you Civil was nowhere in this game." Said Ikwanga.
The team remains third on the standing with 31 points from 19 games they have played this season.

He said this after their 8-0 defeat against Mighty Mukuru Wanderers at the Kamuzu Stadium and said he has run shot of words but youngsters at the team are performing better than the old players.
He said that he warned them so work hard perform well but if they fail they will not be part of the team and he thinks it's this time.

Mzuzu City Hammers have placed a 15 Million Kwacha price tag for their vice captain Wongani Lungu who is being targeted by Mighty Mukuru Wanderers, Creck Sporting and two Zambian teams.
The 22 year old midfielder was promoted in 2022 from their Reserve side and has been instrumental in the team's success in the top flight league.
His performances has also earned him call ups at Flames for more than three times and recently netted a winner in their 2-1 win over Dedza Dynamos.

HAMMERS MAKE CHANGES IN TECHNICAL PANEL
Mzuzu City Hammers has announced that they have appointed former Karonga United head coach, Kondwa Ikwanga as their new head coach replacing Elias Chirambo who has been promoted to a role of technical director at the team.
The team made the announcement on Thursday night via their Facebook page saying the change is of due effect.
"We're Excited to announce that we've made some reinforcements in our technical panel. One of the Major reinforcements is that the Club has appointed former Karonga United Coach Kondwa Ikwanga as the Head Coach replacing Elias Chirambo who has been elevated to the role of Technical Director." Wrote Hammers.
Apart from being the Technical Director of the main team,Chirambo will be overseeing the development of their sister club Mzuzu City Hammers Queens and Mzuzu City Hammers Youth. Here's how the Technical will look like.

Mzuzu City Hammers head coach, Elias Chirambo, said his team was left frustrated by the referee for not giving them a penalty and that made them lose their second match of the season.
He said this after suffering a 2-0 loss over FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and said the team also had a failure in tactics in the second half and that proved to be a blow for the Mzuzu based team.
"I think we were upset in the first half because of the referee, we had penalties but the referee couldn't whistle but all in all we have lost them and we will look forward." Said Chirambo.
The team remain in the top three as they have 13 points from their 7 games played this season and have lost all two matches they have played at the Kamuzu Stadium.

RASHID OUT FOR THREE WEEKS
Mzuzu City Hammers has announced that their captain, Yasin Rashid, will miss the team's action for three weeks or less due to injury.
Rashid was stretched off in the first half of the match that the team lost 1-0 to Mighty Waka Waka Tigers at the Kamuzu Stadium last Sunday and the team has released the extent of the injury.
According to Physiotherapist Lindie Anthony, Yasin Suffered an ankle sprain grade and said he can be back even before 3 weeks.
"Initially he was supposed to be out for 3 weeks but after receiving treatment and close monitoring there has been great improvement which can make him to be 100% fit in due course but we will not rush until he finishes the rehabilitation process," said Anthony.
The player was an important player in the team's first two games which they won against Civo United and Karonga United and managed to score a goal plus one player of the match award.
"ITS WAS NOT OUR DAY" - CHIRAMBO
Mzuzu City Hammers coach, Ellias Chirambo, conceded a defeat at the Kamuzu Stadium saying the team struggled on the midfield because of the injury of their captain Yasin Rashid.
Chirambo said this after their 1-0 defeat and said the team missed too many chances into the game that cost them to lose in the match.
"It was a good game which i think we missed a lot of chances and we were not good on the midfield after we lost Yasin [Rashid] to injury. It was not our day." Said Chirambo.
The coach further said the team will bounce back soon as he will rectify the problems encountered in the match.
Hammers remain fourth on the table as they have 6 points from their two wins and one loss in their opening three match of the league.
