HAIYA ASKS MALAWIANS TO REMAIN CALM AMIDST FLAMES' DISAPPOINTMENTS
Football Association of Malawi President, Fleetwood Haiya, has asked Malawians to remain calm despite the national team's disappointing results, saying he believes the Flames will soon start performing well.
Haiya made the appeal on Facebook on Wednesday after the team's poor show at the Mukuru Four Nations Tournament, where they lost to a youthful Zambian side and hosts Botswana.
Haiya understands the anger in Malawians on the team but has preached for patience as good results will come soon.
"Our hope remains anchored in the example set by the Scorchers, who, despite early setbacks in friendlies, learned, improved, and ultimately qualified. We believe the same path is possible for the Flames," he wrote.
Haiya reiterated that Kalisto Pasuwa's fate will be based on the 2027 African Cup of Nations qualifications, if not, he will be fired.
