FAM announces plan to align local calendar to CAF/FIFA Calendar

Football Association of Malawi has announced that the 2027 season will start in August to align the local calendar with the Confederation of African Football or FIFA Calandar.

The Association's President, Fleetwood Haiya, made the statement during Super League of Malawi's Annual General meeting in Salima on Saturday.

Haiya said FAM will make a two year calendar for 2026 and 2027 so that they make sure there is a proper transition from the old to the new calendar.

He said this will help to end confusions between the FIFA calendar and the local one that leads to teams being given too many matches at once.
