MABEDI CONGRATULATES PLAYERS DESPITE LOSS
Malawi National team head coach, Patrick Mabedi had congratulated his charges after a brilliant showing at the COSAFA Cup despite the team's failure to reach into the final.
Flames lost 3-0 on penalties to Lesotho after a 1-1 draw in the 90 minutes despite having a numerical advantage as Lesotho played with a man less due to a red card.
After the game, Mabedi said his players failed to use their chances in the match but their display was very good.
"I have to give credit to my players. They did their best and we struggled to penetrate Lesotho defence as they dug deep. We had opportunities too but we missed them. We were not composed enough. Sometimes you need to be patient and not be rushing. But all in all we did all we could. It just wasn't our day." Said Mabedi.
The team will play South Africa on Saturday in the tournament's third place match.
