SILVER OUT!

Silver Strikers have been knocked out of the Airtel Top 8 after suffering a 3-0 defeat over Karonga United at the Karonga Stadium on Sunday.

The Bankers went into the game leading 2-0 on aggregate but the hosts made an impressive performance in the second half to secure a historic win.

Lennox Kiwambe opened the scores in the 61st minute after being assisted by Godfrey Sibale who doubled the lead in the 68th minute after receiving a ball from Kiwambe and Kiwambe netted the winner in the 82nd minute to seal a 3-2 win on aggregate.

The win means Karonga United will face Ekhaya FC in the semi finals of the tournament.

Last season, Karonga United caused another upset as they booted out Mighty Wanderers 2-1 on aggregate, winning 2-0 at home after a 1-0 defeat in the first leg.
