Warriors can't breathe! Exit the league with a defeat

In history, Mzuzu Warriors fans will not forget second Sunday of the month of September as this is the day they were booted out from TNM.

Warriors played their final league game at home against the Lilongwe based giants Civil Service United.

The host team suffered a 0-3 defeat against Civo.

Mzuzu Warriors has finished on position 16 with 18 points from 30 games they have played in the 2020/21 TNM Super League.

Mzuzu Warriors are the first team to exit the country's elite league, TNM following a 7-0 defeat to Silver Strikers.

Warriors have been relegated from the 2020/21 TNM Super League despite remaining with 2 games to complete their fixture.

Warriors sits on position 16 with 17 points from 28 games they have played so far.

The Mzuzu based team if they win their remaining games they will amass 26 points from 30 games and still be in the relegation zone.

Financial woes affects Mzuzu Warriors performance

Mzuzu Warriors has attributed its poor start in the TNM Super League this season to finincial constraints the team is facing.

Speaking to Owinna, Mzuzu Warriors Assistant Coach, Laurence Kabaghe, said the players are underperforming because they lack motivation.

Kabaghe has appealed to the clubs administrators to find ways of motivating the team to win more games in the elite league.

Mzuzu Warriors will play away to Red Lions and Nyasa Big Bullets in their opening games at Chiwembe and Kamuzu Stadium respectively.

Mzuni FC will now be called Mzuzu Warriors.

This follows the withdraw of sponsorship by Mzuzu University, a thing that forced them to change the name.
