SAMA WINS A TROPHY FOR WANDERERS
Super Substitute, Sama Thierry Tanjong, fulfilled his words when signing his two years contract at Mighty Mukuru Wanderers that he want to win trophies with the team by scoring a lone goal to win their first ever Castel Challenge Cup on Saturday.
The Cameroonian scored two minutes after his introduction and that goal was enough to win the game as the Nomads beat Mzuzu City Hammers 1-0 at the Bingu National Stadium in the final.
Head coach for the team, Bob Mpinganjira, said he was very happy to win the tournament as the team now has something to point on this season.
He said: "I'm very happy with the boys with how they performed. It was a very tough match but we have now something to give it to the club and also to our President, Mr Thomson Mpinganjira so I'm happy." Said Mpinganjira.
Meanwhile, the Nomads have claimed a trophy and a prize money of K55 million for finishing first in the tournament and ending a trophy drought at the team.

"CASTEL FINAL WILL DEFINE OUR SEASON" - NDOVI
Mighty Mukuru Wanderers Chief Executive Officer, Panganeni Ndovi, says their Castel Challenge Cup final will define their 2024 season as it has been a season of a mixed feeling.
Ndovi said the game could fulfill one of their objectives of the season if they win the trophy but that will depend on the hard work of the players.
"Reaching the final of Castel Challenge Cup shows how focused we remain despite having lows in the season and this game will define our season as how we have performed this year." Said Ndovi.
He has however said he treats the game as one of the biggest games the team has played this season as Hammers is a good team that has beaten them also this season.
This will be his first official trophy if they win the tournament today since his appointment as a CEO at the Blue camp.
"IT'S TOTALLY DIFFERENT FROM THE 8-0 WIN" - MPINGANJIRA
Mighty Mukuru Wanderers head coach, Bob Mpinganjira, says he expects a very different game from the match they won 8-0 in the League this season and the team needs to work extra hard to win the trophy.
He said this on Friday ahead of the match against Mzuzu City Hammers in the final of the Castel Challenge Cup in Lilongwe on Saturday at the Bingu National Stadium where he said his team is prepared.
He said this is their last chance to win a trophy this season and they have agreed to have this one although it will not come on a silver platter.
"It's a different game from that game we won 8-0. It was in the League and also months ago and we need to approach this game as it is now so we desperately need this one." Said Bob.
The team managed to beat Panthers FC 3-0 to reach the final and their last time to win a trophy was in 2022 when they won the Airtel Top 8 under Mark Harrison.

NYONDO SCORES AGAIN AS WANDERERS REACH CASTEL FINAL
Mighty Mukuru Wanderers has become the first team to reach the 2024 Castel Challenge Cup final after beating Panthers 3-0 at the Kamuzu Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Forward Clement Nyondo scored his 13th goal of the tournament before Blessings Singini's thunderbolt and Gaddie Chirwa's cool finish sealed the win following an impressive second half display by the team.
Head coach, Bob Mpinganjira, was happy with the win saying it was not an easy thing to beat the lower league side.
"It was a tough game, I said it already that they are good and you could see today they came and held us in the first half then Second half, we pushed hard then we got the goals." Said Mpinganjira.
He further said that the team will keep on fighting in order to find a silverware this season as the Castel Challenge Cup is their only hope for a trophy this season.

KALIATI NAMED 2024 BEST PLAYER, WANDERERS BEST CLUB
Mighty Mukuru Wanderers midfielder, Isaac Kaliati, has added two accolades at MBC Entertainers of the Year award after being voted as 2024 Player of the year and Sports Personality of the year.
This follows a tremendous effort put in the 2024 season that saw him win 8 man of the match awards to score 17 goals and provide 9 assists in 27 games and win the golden boot this season.
He has however defeated Crispin Mapemba and Chimwemwe Idana for the best player award and he got the best of Frank kandu and Peter Mponda to win the best Sports personality award.

"WE WANT THE CASTEL CUP AT LALI LUBANI" - MPINGANJIRA
Mighty Mukuru Wanderers head coach, Bob Mpinganjira, says the Castel Challenge Cup is the only chance left for the team to win a silverware thus season and that they will do everything to take it home this season.
He said this on Saturday ahead of the team's semi final crash against Panthers at the Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday and said he knows what Panthers is doing but they will fight for a better result.
He said, "Castel Challenge Cup is our only hope for silverware this season. We are therefore leaving nothing to chance. We have had adequate preparations and we have challenged ourselves that Castel Cup must come to Lali Lubani Road."
Meanwhile, he confirmed that the team still misses their left back, Timothy Silwimba, who is injured and also midfielder, Mphatso Kamanga also misses the match.
Should the Nomads win on Sunday, they will face either FCB Nyasa Big Bullets or Mzuzu City Hammers in the final.
NYONDO SENDS NOMADS INTO SEMIS
Clement Nyondo was in a beast mode after netting three goals as Mighty Mukuru Wanderers beat Bangwe All Stars 5-0 in the Quarter finals of the Castel Challenge Cup at the Kamuzu Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
Nyondo scored one in the first half before scoring two others in the second half with Misheck Botomani and Sama Thierry Tanjong scoring the other goals to insure the big win for the team.
Head coach, Bob Mpinganjira, expressed his happiness over the result said his boys played very well.
"We started thinking about this game last week knowing how important this game was and I'm happy not because we have won 5-0 but we have progressed through to the next round." Said Mpinganjira.
The Nomads will face lower league side, Panthers FC in the semi finals of the tournament to be played at the Kamuzu Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

NOMADS END ON HIGH TO BEAT LAST SEASON'S POINTS
Mighty Mukuru Wanderers has finished the 2024 TNM Super League season with a win after sealing a sweet revenge in a 1-2 win over Moyale Barracks at the Mzuzu Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Misheck Botomani scored in the first half before Isaac Kaliati doubling the scores in the second half but a Emmanuel Allan's late goal left the Nomads unharmed.
The team's head coach, Bob Mpinganjira, said his team played very well in the game hence the victory.
"It was a tough game you know playing in these kind of surface is not easy but we played very in the first half and we got a goal, second half we came also hard so I should just thank the boys." Said Mpinganjira.
Meanwhile, the Nomads have managed to pick 58 points from 30 games on second position season, beating last season's record of 55 points on third.
WANDERERS CONFIRMS SECOND PLACE AMIDST STRUGGLE
Mighty Mukuru Wanderers' struggle in the final days of the League continues as they failed to win in their third straight match following a 1-1 draw against Creck Sporting Club on Wednesday afternoon at the Aubrey Dimba Stadium.
Frank Phiri cancelled out a Misheck Botomani's first half opener to share a point each which has helped the Nomads cement their second place in the League ending a threat from FCB Nyasa Big Bullets which has moved three points behind them.
Head coach for the team, Bob Mpinganjira said the result was not s true reflection of the game as they dominated in the whole game.
"It is not a true reflection of the game, we dominated in the first and second half but we didn't create the chances to score so in Football we need goals to do better." Said Mpinganjira.
He however said his team missed Isaac Kaliati and Gaddie Chirwa who were suspended and injured respectively but that gives chances to other players to fit in

Mighty Mukuru Wanderers interim coach, Bob Mpinganjira, says their 2-2 draw against MAFCO last Wednesday at the Kamuzu Stadium confirmed their defeat in the TNM Super League title race which also minimized their efforts in a game against Silver Strikers.
He said this after their 1-0 defeat over Silver Strikers at the Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday afternoon, which confirmed Silver Strikers as the Champions for the 2024 season.
He said, "I think we lost it when we drew against MAFCO, had we won it I think something could have happened in this game [against Silver Strikers] but all in all the boys tried."
He further said much will be now drafted to the Castel Challenge Cup as the team will fight in order to have a silverware this season.
The Nomads remain second in the League with 54 points from 28 games and will play Creck Sporting Club and Moyale Barracks away from home to finish their League matches.

If they fail to win the Castel Challenge Cup this season then they will have another trophyless season after Mighty Mukuru Wanderers blew away a chance keep pressure on Silver Strikers in three minutes after playing a 2-2 draw against MAFCO on Wednesday.
The Nomads led 2-0 at half time thanks to goals from Lawrence Chaziya and Isaac Kaliati but Auspicious Kadzongola and Bernard Chimaimba netted two late goals to deny the Nomads their 17th win of the season at the Kamuzu Stadium.
Head coach, Bob Mpinganjira, said after the match that they result they got was very bad.
"It is a bad results, we led by two goals for 70-80 minutes but conceding late goals this is a very bad result." Said Mpinganjira.
The Nomads remain second on the standings with 54 points from 27 games this season, 7 points behind Silver Strikers who edge closer to win the title.

He was speaking ahead of the match at the Kamuzu Stadium in their 27th TNM Super League match said his players are ready for the game and that the league is still on giving them a chance to win it.

"I think we need to fight very hard in the tournament because we need to win it, it's the only Cup that is left on our side so we will win it." Said Mpinganjira.
Following the win, the team had progressed to the quarter finals of the tournament and will face the winner between Bangwe All Stars and FOMO FC.

He said this after the team's 1-0 win over Bangwe All Stars at the Kamuzu Stadium on Wednesday afternoon and said he is happy for winning the game.
He further said his team will polish up as they have missed a lot of chances in the match but the chances are still high to win the League.
"The chances are still on, anything can happen to our team and we are still fighting so that we can win the Championship." Said Mpinganjira.
The win takes the Nomads up to 53 points on second position, four points behind the leaders, Silver Strikers in the League.

He said Bangwe has been their tough opponent this season and looking at their current form, it will not be easy to get past them but they will do anything to win the game.
"It's going to be a tough match but we are prepared for the match, the players have also been told on the importance of winning this game, we are in need of a win." Said Mpinganjira.
In three meetings between the teams, there was one draw and each team recorded a win in the Airtel top 8 this season.
