MWASE DEFENDS HIS DECISION TO START KHUNGWA
Mighty Mukuru Wanderers interim coach, Meke Mwase, has defended his decision to start with low experienced goalkeeper, Dalitso Khungwa, saying he wanted the player to feel the heat of the Blantyre Derby.
Mwase said this after his team lost 2-1 to FCB Nyasa Big Bullets to be knocked out of the 2024 FDH Bank Cup and said the goalkeeper could have done better in the goals but defended his decision to start him.
"We wanted him to feel the game as we trusted him because he was given two games [against Chitipa United and MAFCO] which he did not concede so we thought he would perform well so there was nothing wrong." Said Mwase.
Meanwhile, Khungwa was replaced at half time for experienced William Thole, who did not concede in the whole of second half.
This season, Wanderers has trusted all of its goalkeepers with Richard Chipuwa trusted in many of the games than Thole and Khungwa.

Dalitso Khungwa had been sidelined since making his move to Mighty Mukuru Wanderers in 2023 but has been trusted in two games as a starter.
He has kept back to back cleansheets against Chitipa United and MAFCO, brilliant saves at the Chitowe Stadium.
