TUNDE WINS BULLETS POTM AWARD

Nigerian forward, Babatunde Adepoju, has won the player of the month award at FCB Nyasa Big Bullets after helping the team to secure good results in the month of July.

In the month he described as a month of turning following a slow start on his return, Babatunde managed to score five goals in five games for the People's team and two were against Mighty Mukuru Wanderers in the FDH Bank Cup round of 16.

He has beaten Lloyd Aaron, Nickson Nyasulu and Chikumbutso Salima through votes from supporters to win the award.

Flames is for Malawians, "Babatunde should not play for the Flames" says Kanyenda

Following reports that the country's FA is still pressing for Babatunde Adepoju citizenship, a renowned Sports Commentator David Kanyenda has opposed the move.

In his Facebook post, Kanyenda said the FA should rather focus on grooming youngsters and tracking Malawians playing outside the country.

He said if the FA Technical Director Marian Mario Marinica wants taller players then they should scout players with such physical qualities.

"I want to win with Malawian players who have at least a biological connection with the country.

I would rather lose with Malawian players than win with foreigners masquerading as locals," said Kanyenda

FAM is hopeful that Babatunde will feature for the Flames in 2023 AFCON and Chan qualifiers.

Babatunde to play for Flames

The Nigerian striker Babatunde Adepoju is contemplating of getting a Malawian citizenship to start playing for Malawi National Football Team.

Babatunde who is currently playing for Nyasa Big Bullets has met the requirement to acquire the Malawi citizenship after staying in the country for 7 years.

According to reports, coach Meck Mwase has expressed his interest in getting the striker in his squad ahead of AFCON tournament.

Babatunde will be the second foreign player to play for Malawi following Mischeck Seleman.
