Wanderers miss top spot, lose virginity to return with one point
Mighty Wanderers will have to sweat in order to win this years TNM Super League after blowing up an advantage to open up a three-point gap following a shock 2-1 defeat over Mzuzu City Hammers at the Mzuzu Stadium on Wednesday.
After a barren draw, Promise Kamwendo fired the Nomads ahead in the 55th minute but Samuel Olatubosan levelled it in the 82nd minute before Isaiah Nyirenda netting a 94th minute winner in the game.
Head coach Bob Mpinganjira conceded the defeat by saying his team missed a lot of chances that could have been converted into goals.
''It happens in a game of football, we played well and tried hard where we created chances but we failed to score which gives you a punishment so luck was just not on our side,'' he said.
The Nomads have also open chances to Silver Strikers who can cover the gap down to three points as the League heats up.
They remain second in the League with 56 points from 25 games.
