Ekhaya Women misses promotion as Chitoliro wins SR FAM League

Ekhaya Women have narrowly missed the promotion into the NBM Womens Premiership after finishing second into the Southern Region FAM Womens League following its conclusion on Sunday.

The Cow girls looked to be favourites to finish top of the League but Chitoliro Heroines, former Bangwe All Stars Ladies, snatched a late winner to confirm their first place in the League.

The final day began with both team separated by one point while third placed Allan Ladies were level on points with Ekhaya and Chitoliro scored in the 87th minute through Judith Kabwemba to beat Ndirande Giants 1-0 at the Mpira Stadium.

Meanwhile, Ekhaya finished with a 2-1 win over Allan Ladies thanks to a Hope Chikumba's brace to finish as runners up.

Chitoliro collected 33 points from 10 wins, three draws and one loss while Ekhaya got 32 points from 10 wins, two draws and two defeats.
