TOPIK earn first League win
Topik Academy have finally gotten their first win of the NBM Women's Premiership after beating fellow relegated side, MK Academy, 1-2 at the Luwinga Technical Centre Ground on Saturday.
Cecilia Nzima assisted Christina Chirwa in the 30th minute before doubling the scores two minutes later but Esther White's 78th minute for the hosts could not deny them the much sought win.
Assistant coach for Topik Academy, Scolastica Khunga, said they are happy with the win which they have waited for so long to achieve it.
"It was a tough game as this is a derby but we told the players to do everything in order to get a win and I thank them because we have finally gotten it," said Khunga.
On the other side, head coach for MK Academy Khumbo Sibsle accepted the defeat saying Topik Academy needed the win most from the game.
"It was a tough match and I told my players that this will be the toughest match in the league because Topik wanted to get a win and indeed they prepared well, we accept the defeat," he said.
The win took Topik up to 9th on the table with 6 points from one win, three draws and 12 defeats in the League while MK Academy remain 7th with 7 points from one win, four draws and 11 defeats this season.
