Civil Women stun Silver Ladies
Civil Women made a revenge over their fierce rivals, Silver Strikers Ladies, after claiming a 2-0 win to hand the Champions their second defeat of the season in a Lilongwe Derby played at the Civo Stadium on Saturday.
The Civil servants were coming from two consecutive losses and they needed a win in the game as Emily Samuel and Vitumbiko Mkandawire scored in either half to secure the win.
Head coach for Civil Women, Collins Pofera, said that they have been working so hard to be getting positive results against Silver Ladies which has been dominating over the years.
"It was a good game for our team because we played well from the first whistle and I told the girls that let us work hard to get maximum points and move out of where we are so they indeed delivered well," said Pofera.
On the other side, Andrew Chikhosi said that her players failed to perform during the match.
"We accept that we have lost and Civil came hard on us. The players maybe have put it that they have already won the League and they put no effort in the game hence we have lost the game," said Chikhosi.
Civil Women moved up to 6th on the log table with 25 points from 16 games in the League while the Champions remain with 42 points from 14 wins and two defeats on top of the League.
