KHUMBENI SIGNS FOR GILLINGHAM FC
Malawian England based attacker, Nelson Khumbeni, has secured a move to Gillingham United from Bolton Wanderers in an undisclosed fee.
Gillingham made the announcement on Friday afternoon after completing the deal and has signed a two and half year deal with the team.
Speaking after penning the deal to complete the move, the Malawian born star said he was happy to join the team.
"It is a big team and i would like to help the team push ahead so that we secure promotion so i am very happy to join this big club." He said.
Meanwhile, the team plays in the Sky Bet League in England which is the third tier League and they sit 16th in the 24 team log table having picked 30 points from 24 games and managed to score 25 goals and concede 28.
They stay 28 points adrift leaders, Walsall which has 58 points but its only 14 points behind the third place which is a qualifying position into the League One.
Khumbeni left Malawi at a tender age where he joined Norwich City Academy in the Under 8 team and signed his first professional contract in 2021 before sealing a move to Borton Wanderers a year later.
He has spent his life much in loan team as Wanderers sent him to AFC Fylde before playing for Morecambe and then Accrington Town where he has played 24 goals and scored one. His last appearance for the team was against Liverpool in a 4-0 defeat in the FA Cup.
On his profile, he holds a dual citizenship as England is his first nationality while Malawi is second but is yet to make his breakthrough on the international scene.
