Hammers shock Wanderers to set survival hopes alive
Mzuzu City Hammers produced a stintillating performance to hand Mighty Wanderers their first defeat of the season after securing a 2-1 comeback win to take a huge step in their bid for survival at the Mzuzu Stadium on Wednesday.
Substitute Isaiah Nyirenda got a 94th minute winner for the team after Samuel Olatubosan had cancelled out Promise Kamwendo's opener to deny the Nomads an advantage on their chase for the Championship.
Head coach Elias Chirambo said the win complements what he already said that his team will survive this season.
''I said that we have a bad squad but now i have assembled a good team and it is now complete. We need all 9 points remaining and we will survive,'' said Chirambo.
The win took Hammers up to 14th on the log table as they now have 27 points from 27 games, three below safe place in the League.
