Pasuwa misses World Cup Qualifiers target
Flames head coach, Kalisto Pasuwa, has missed his target in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers after failing to secure three wins that he was told to have in the campaign.
This comes after the team's shock 1-0 defeat over Sao Tome who last claimed their win in 2019 but Malawi put a low performance to be stunned in Tunisia.
Pasuwa got a 1-2 win over Lesotho as his first win of the campaign before forcing out a draw when they trailed by two goals in a 2-2 draw against Liberia and were awarded maximum points following the failure of Equatorial Guinea to show up at the Bingu National Stadium.
A win against low ranked Sao Tome could have been a good result for Pasuwa who could boost with 10 points from four games and also a second place in their group.
Other targets given to him was to qualify for the 2027 African Cup of Nations which is a priority and also win the COSAFA Cup in the next two years.
