Hannover 96 has signed Mwisho Mhango, an 18-year-old attacking player from Malawi, on a contract running until June 30, 2030.
He was developed at the Ascent Soccer Academy and has represented Malawi at both the U17 and U20 Africa Cup of Nations.
Now that he has turned 18, Mhango will live in the 96 Academy boarding school during an initial three-month integration phase.
From January 2026, he could be eligible to play for the senior team. Since he cannot feature for the U23s in the Regionalliga Nord as a non-EU player, a loan move is also possible.
Sporting director for the team, Marcus Mann describes him as a highly promising attacking midfielder.
Mhango says moving to Europe has always been his dream, and he is proud to take this step with Hannover 96.
