Chintheche stops Mitundu Baptism
Chintheche United produced a brilliant home performance to record a win over league leaders, Mitundu Baptist, after claiming a 3-1 win at the Rumphi Stadium on Saturday in the NBS Bank National Division League.
The hosts were in top form as Manase Chilenga put them ahead on 15th minuted before Jimmy Kalanje doubling the lead on 45th minute but Raheem Mtondera pulled one back before half time and a Njakwa Mkumbira's 95th minute strike sealed a win for the hosts.
Head coach for the victors, Isaac Kapyepye said he was happy to have recorded a win a game which looked tough but was simple on the pitch.
"It wasn't a tough match as we expected from our opponents, we killed off the game in the first half as we got early goals so also playing home, we needed to win of course." Kapyepye said.
On his part, team manager for Baptist, Patrick Phiri, said officiation destroyed their game plan as it favoured Chintheche United.
"We came in the North to play Baka City and now Chintheche so today the referees have played their part again. If this continues then the League will not be interesting as we anticipated." Said Phiri.
The win takes Chintheche up to third on the log table with 11 points from three wins, two draws and one defeat in the League while Baptist remain top with 12 points from four wins and two defeats.
