MAFCO OUT OF THE CASTEL CHALLENGE CUP
MAFCO FC has become the first Elite League side to be knocked out of the Castel Challenge Cup after suffering a 5-4 defeat on penalties following a 1-1 draw against second tier League side, Panthers FC at the Nankhaka Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Salima based soldiers were the first to score when Joseph Mbewe rose high to guide the ball into the net on 27th minute of the game but Noel Sibale levelled the scores in the added time of the first half and Panthers fought hard in the second half to force the game into post match penalties.
Geoffrey Sumani netted the winning penalty for Panthers after Aubrey Chafewa missed the last penalty for the visitors as the other four, Peter Kasonga, Ben Mbewe, Paul Ndhlovu and Yohane Malunga scored their kicks while Happy Kasamba, Noel Sibale, Rodwell Chibambo and Aggrey Msowoya also got their's right for the victors.
MAFCO FC deputy coach, Macdonald Kumwembe, accepted the defeat and congratulated Panthers
"Let us just congratulated Panthers for the win, they have done very well and we have to accept and move on, that's Football." Said Kumwembe.
