The match was full of controversy. Senegal had an earlier goal ruled out for a foul in the build-up, while Morocco were later awarded a penalty, a decision that sparked protests from Senegal and briefly halted play. After order was restored, Brahim Díaz attempted a Panenka, but Edouard Mendy calmly collected to seal victory.

It is Senegal’s second AFCON title, while Morocco continue their wait for a second crown since 1976.
